Fitness for life vs Fitness for image

I had to write a quick post this morning when I saw this post my cousin shared on Facebook this morning.

This post comes from a young woman in the USA.  She is a former Fitness competitor where body image and how you look is the primary goal of the competitors.  I am not here to bash people who compete (as I've known several). It's not my thing, I don't think competitors "look good", and it is not a health based sport (but that's just my opinion - to each his own). HOWEVER, it without a doubt takes extreme discipline, strict eating and workout habits and a 110% commitment to their sport and goals.  That is admirable for sure.

My focus of posting and sharing this, is the side that I love to educate people about at Living Energy;

 Learn to have a primary focus of overall health, happiness and energy to live your life to the fullest.
Don't deprive yourself and don't be so strict you miss out on life itself.  We only have one. Feel good and be happy. That's the number one priority.  Having said that, if the competitor lifestyle makes you happy, so be it.  To the majority of readers reading this post, I'm just saying you don't have to do it if it's not your thing. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Take the time to read this short post from this young woman.  Kudos to her for posting this very "against the grain" post that has so much truth to it.  You can see the "real person" and the energy for life in her photo on the right.

Excellent post to start your week off with the right mindset and path.
