I was thinking this morning; what was I proud of that I accomplished in 2011? There were a few things that stuck out for me:
- Family time. I went from working, crazy 10-15hr days, split shifts and trying to make myself available for all clients, teams etc to putting myself and my family first. No more split shifts, no more long hours, and my schedule is still full. When I was working those crazy days, I had no energy, I was grumpy at home, I had no time for my own workouts/health... that's no good. You need to take care of yourself and those closest to you first. In turn that energy and love for life will transfer over to my clients.
- Building my name professionally. I really saw 2011 as a great year for building my name professionally. With a jammed schedule for 90% of the year, I was able to relax even if there were some weeks with lower numbers of clients. Referrals flow in regularly, past clients who want to come back for more or for new goals, and networking with other health professionals really moved to a new level.
- Ideas and knowing what I want. I've always been the curious type when it comes to health and fitness. I want to learn about EVERYTHING. The past couple years, I've been guiding my time to specialize in a couple key areas, rather than trying to be a jack of all trades. The best thing I ever read was, "Tiger Woods is good at golf, because that's what he does. Golf is his focus, his priority, and his life." Totally hit me and made sense. So my work has been geared as much as possible towards sports conditioning and kids fitness. Along with that, I've had several ideas that I (WILL) eventually get up and running. One of which, hopefully will get underway early in 2012.
I enjoyed some other fun things such as participating in our local Surf and Turf team challenge, running in our team relay at the PEC marathon.... Lots of great stuff. And more to come in 2012 I'm sure.
Regardless of how many things you accomplished in 2011, start planning your 2012 now! TODAY! Set targets for yourself, guide yourself in the direction YOU (and only YOU) want to go in, and enjoy a healthy, happy and simple way of living in 2012.
